About Us

Our teachers are Malcolm and Sandy and Steve and Tara

Malcolm and Sandy have a passion for Lindy Hop dancing. They have been dancing together for more than 15 years, although Malcolm has been a Morris Dancer for more than 40 years, but we won’t talk about that!

Before they met Sandy was a Salsa dancer and Malcolm was going to Jive classes. Shortly after getting together they attended a Jive event called ‘Beach Boogie’ which was held at Atherfield Holiday Camp (that used to be along the Military Road) many years ago and took a taster class in Lindy Hop.

That was the beginning of the love affair with Lindy. Since then they have attended classes, workshops, Lindy exchanges (which are a great way of travelling to foreign parts) and have made many very good friends over the years in England and all over Europe and beyond.

Steve and Tara started Lindy Hopping in 2006 after being inspired by a couple jiving in a tiny Irish bar on the island of Malta, in 2005.  We got ‘the bug’ and began dancing up to five times a week and quickly moved from beginner to improver level, and started teaching Lindy Hop classes in 2008.

We also run a monthly rock ‘n’ roll band night on the first Saturday of each month in Newport on the sunny Isle of Wight and offer dance tuition, at beginner and improver levels, in authentic 1950’s rock & roll (jive) and Lindy Hop (jitterbug).
